ALCOR DUO
Alcor Duo 4 (1930) and Alcor Duo 6 (1934)
This is actually the same plane, just renamed and re-engined after a crash. As you can see it is a regular looking high wing, enclosed cabin, monoplane, just like many other from this time period (one source said it was a standard Lockheed 5). It just has two engines where one would normally be.
Stats (Alcor Duo 6)
Span 42 feet
Length overall 28 feet 5 inches
Height overall 9 feet 6 inches
Maximum speed 190 miles per hour
Cruising speed 160 miles per hour
Service ceiling 18,500 feet
Cruising range 660 miles
One pilot and four passengers
Payload 1300 pounds
Designed and built by Allan and Malcolm Loughead, after the sale of their Lockheed Aircraft Company (as in the Lockheed that built the Vega, the Orion and many other famous planes of the 20’s, 30’s and all other decades after that). A particularly good pulp plane because of the following cover.
