A DINOSAUR IN CHICAGO
After their successful campaign against the Cult of the Green Death most of our heroes gather in a quiet section of parkland near Lincoln Park Zoo. It being a monday, the zoo was not open and they felt they could meet in peace to discuss further working together. All was quiet as they talked, except for a few animal sounds from the nearby zoo. Then the sounds got louder. People in the distance started yelling and screaming. Shots were fired. Then crashing through the woods was......
Then Dobbie O'Dugan remembered that the famous world explorer John Strong was moving a Triceratops into a cage at the zoo. He had captured it on a Lost Island in the Pacific and kept it drugged. The drugs wore off and he found himself with an annoyed dinosaur that was also in musth.
Our heroes reacted by running around in panic. This was because their rifles and other long-arms were in their cars, and they didn't fancy taking on an angry dino with just pistols.
The dino advanced and Zephyr grabbed her custom rifle from the trunk of her car and hit it with three shots, each wounding it. But on it came.

For some reason, Professor Johnathan Howard McTavish, decided to throw a smoke grenade. This unfortunately both failed to stop the Triceratops and provided him some cover from shots from the parking lot. O'Dugan, O'Toole, Short Round and Long Round blazed away at the behemoth with their pistols, hitting several times but not wounding. Despite the smoke Zephyr and Thomas both hit and wounded the monster, but it kept coming (it made its "Nobody Could Survive That" roll). Meanwhile Thomas's lackeys finished unloading the Robot Servant he had recently purchased.
The Triceratops charged over the Professors van (which he had borrowed from the museum for the meeting, that will be fun to explain to the museum director) crushing it and charged Don Daiblo and Zephyr.Don Diablo's sword found it's mark but failed to wound but the badly wounded dino missed (I play the rules a little differently in I allow only one round of combat in Dire Duels). The Professor aimed his cutom shotgun and finished the beast off.
This was my first try at running a dino. It had the following stats.
Gats 0
Fists 6
Moxie 8
Dare! 5
Skin -4 AP to hits
Horn AP 9
Bum Rush,
Mad Dog Rage (because of the musth)
Nobody Could Survive That
Fiendish Face
Special Anti-Vehicle attack
Instead of making many attacks against individuals the Triceratops can make one attack against a vehicle

These stats are okay, but it did die quickly. On the other hand I made it take the long route to the players, so they got plenty of time to fire at it. I will either need to use dinos in herds or let them get closer before charging.
Maybe I'll drop their dare to 4 and let them ignore the first two wounding hits. I probably should also up the fists number a little.
Now that the Hollow Earth supplement is coming out I guess my efforts have been in vain.
