THE TUNNELS OF DOOM
After defeating the Cult of the Green Death on the surface the party had to enter the underground to clean out the last of the Cult. Colonel Infernal and his man stayed on the surface to guard the seriously wounded (he failed to show up for the game). Dropping down the ladders at the two entrances they had found on the surface the party came came under fire from three rifle armed Cultists. Return fire from Zephyr quickly dropped one (the riflemen had set up back too far, they were out of short range of pistols but also out of range to snap fire each group as they came down the ladders).
Shots from Professor McTavish and Zephyr dropped more of the rifle armed Cultists, while Don Diablo used his Living Shadow schtick to move forward from cover to cover.
The rifle armed Cultists had all been shot down (Zephyr with her custom three shot a round rifle was very deadly) when two monster rushed around a corner and charged towards Don Diablo.
One creature looked like it was made of stone, while the other appeared to have had its skin stripped off and carried a sword made of bone. Don Diablo stood his ground (Fiendish Face is of little use vs. a character with a high Moxie). Shots rang out twice wounding the rock monster (-3AP and -1 to Hit from a Mystic Shroud mean little if you fire enough rifle rounds at a target).
Don Diablo charged the Rock Monster and cut down with his flashing blade. The skinless abomination (Bum) rush passed him heasding for easier prey.
Springing onto a crate the Skinless Monster cut down Long Round, but then was badly wounded by fire from Miss O'Toole and Zephyr. Don Diablo charge and finished it off. Sorry about the picture it didn't come out well.
With Don Diablo in the lead the party cautiously crept down the tunnel. Professor McTavish took advantage of the lull in the fighting to heal himself with a Heaking Trance.
Don Diablo peaked around the corner, and was downed by a wave of pistol and submachingun rounds (Ablative Clothing helps but not all the time).
Zephyr trades shots with the Cultists as Don Diablo is dragged to safety.
Thomas the Sniper rushes across the opening, hugging the far wall (and remaining 14 inches away from the Cultists so he doesn't trigger snap fire). There he gets the Cultists in a crossfire with Zephyr.
Miss O'Toole also cross the opening out of snap fire range and presses on down the tunnel towards a partially dressed woman who is kneeling at the end of the room.
Suddenly, from out of the shadows, a monsterous hound charges and fells Miss O'Toole. Thomas spins and charges the Hell Hound with a bayonet as his henchmen close.
The Hell Hound fells a henchman but Thomas inflicts a wound with his bayonet.
Meanwhile Professor McTavish pushes some crates out to make cover so he can join Zephyr in firing on the Cultists.
Thomas finally bayonets the Hell Hound while Short Round avoids the battle and climbs up on a crate.
Zephyr's and Professor McTavish's gunfire prove to much for the Cultists.
The Master, the head of the Cult of the Green Death, dashes out from cover.despite wounds from Thomas and Short Rounds snap shooting he drops Short Round with a blow from his poisoned dagger. His carefully laid plans of fleeing on the Seaplane if forced to went up in smoke with the Seaplane and now he is fighting fir his life.
But he falls to a final shot from Thomas the Sniper, who has taken care to carefully back up out of charge range
It was a close run thing. The party barely defeats the Cult of the Green Death. At the end only two Leads and one Companion stand upright, the rest are badly wounded.
The Hell Hound (center) an Animal Companion of the Master worth only 98 points drops two supporters, a lead and wounds another lead. While Rocky and Skinless worth a total of 508 points only manage to take out one companion.
